The Great Escape

A girl from London decides it’s time to follow her dreams…

“…Yes to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free,
Silhouetted by the sea…”
Bob Dylan

Hi, I’m Ola!

In 2014, after 10 years of living a 9-5 life in one of the busiest cities in the world, I chose to break free, abandon my ‘career’ and travel.

I travelled through CubaMexico, Colombia, Ecuador, The Galapagos Islands, Argentina, LA, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia and Japan.

I am currently working on developing a new website (under the same name http://www.theunsungworld.com).

I’ll be launching my new site in July 2019 and filling it with lots of relevant content that will hopefully appeal to fellow adventure makers and travellers.

Watch this space!

  1. Hey,
How was the jungle trip? We’re in San cristobal but about to head of to Guatemala. We’re trying to firm up our plans and have a few days spare in Costa Rica. What was the paradise you stayed in called?

    Travel safe
    Mike

    • Hey Mike! Jungle was wet and cold and van was pumping out the air con. No pants to save me this time – had to take the cold and then got a cold! You must be loving San Cristobal. We arrived yesterday and got straight on the red wine and mulled wine – how cold is it here! Going to a village on Sunday where they apparently sacrifice chickens in some church – bit Temple of Doom! In Costa Rica I recommend Cahuita. We stayed in a cabin of La Piscina Natural http://www.cahuita.cr/en/hotels/piscina-natural it’s at the end of a coastal path. They have a huge Garden of Eden backing onto the sea. On the path to town there are a few bars that hire bikes so you can cycle into town and to the national park. The bars on the coastal path are AWESOME. Very chilled, Bob Marley, Caribbean vibe. The town is small and there are animals everywhere in the park. La Piscina has a big booze stocked fridge and kitchen. You can use herbs and veggies from the garden and eggs from the chickens. Shops in town stock lots of food and there are restaurants. Best google the weather as I went in February. The town website is really good for local information http://www.cahuita.cr/en – hope that helps! Oh there’s also a sloth sanctuary worth visiting. Have an amazing trip guys!!

  2. I have to say your Amazonia recap has helped me tremendously.

It’s the best I have seen on the web and will utilize it further as I leave Thursday for Leticia .

    Thank you

    Eric

    • So glad to hear it! Have an amazing adventure! Random memory – take time to look up at the stars when you leave Leticia. The sky is amazing. Actually out of everywhere I’ve travelled to in the world Colombia has the best night sky. It’s like you’re in space : )
